BREAK & ENTER: THE COLLECTOR
Introducing the Specialist Class
UPDATED: February 8, 2010 (v3)

If you've been keeping tabs on our Upcoming Products page, you'll remember a little paragraph for an upcoming product called Break & Enter. There will be more details to come shortly but we need some feedback on a new concept we've been working on called the specialist class.

Specialists are characters who have perfected their craft in unique directions. Unlike multiclass or hybrid characters seeking to merge two worlds together, the specialist has found a specific role or duty to harness his talents and powers. In doing so, he gains new abilities directed at achieving those goals. More importantly, a specialist class can be combined with a large number of existing core classes, meaning you don't have to roll up a new character to play one. For Break & Enter (or B&E, for short), we've developed the collector, a specialist who draws on hexes to conceal his presence, move quickly around the battlefield, and boost his comrades through icons and tokens.

Click here to download a free unedited, playtest version of the collector specialist class and let us know what you think about the collector and specialist classes in general. To provide comments and feedback, you can post them on this forum on EN World or email them directly to playtest@emeraldpresspdf.com. As an incentive, we're offering five (5) free copies of the finished product to be randomly drawn by me (the publisher) and any constructive feedback provided will get you a playtester credit in the book.

UPDATES: Significant changes made to the at-wills - they have been toned down as they were far too powerful under the circumstances; some adapt encounters and dailies changed levels; master of darkness feature power converting to encounter power; and more...

GOBLINS, BARBARIAN, AND MERCENARIES
...OH YEAH!

Combat Advantage #14 Available Now

Feel that chill in the air? It's the slow approach of winter and long nights of darkness. Perhaps it's that dreadful sense of clouded skies, dead trees, and a bitter wind with a bite hard enough to cut through the thickest coat that drove us to produce one of our darkest issues yet.

CA14 is ready for your perusal and we've packed it full of some real goodies. First of all, there's a complete article on roleplaying mercenaries in a 4E campaign (including some alternate rules and bonuses for playing the truly unaligned), a new paragon path for barbarian/druid multiclass characters, and a fully detailed set of baddies for the epic level under the guide of Blades, the goblin warlord. That's right - an epic goblin.

Starting now, CA goes bi-monthly as we work on improving our content once again (details to follow in January). As always, Combat Advantage is completely free and we have a subscription (also free) for those of you enjoying CA on a regular basis.

RISE TO THE CHALLENGE
Risen On Sale Now!!

All cultures believe in the power of justice and retribution. The gods send down their minions in search of evil-doers to teach all those who would oppose their word the meaning of punishment; the primal spirits embody the mortal shell with the power to balance the wrongs of greed with furious anger; unknown forces in the multiverse align to create an arcane delivery of vengeance; and the sheer determination of a lone survivor sets a path to absolution. When all seems darkest, the fallen shall rise to avenge their deaths.

Risen: The Guide to Resurrected Characters is now on sale at all OBS sites in both standard and EPIC editions. To mark the occasion, we're dropping the price of our EPIC edition to match its standard cousin. Choose one of seven new paragon paths designed to bring your character back from the dead with new path features, powers, feats, and extensive roleplaying notes. And each copy provides 500 XP towards your EPIC Rewards membership. Don't have one? Check out the Rewards page - it takes less than a minute to fill out.

Written by Todd Crapper and Shawn O'Leary, Risen is the latest product in our Dark Emerald series of products for the 4th Edition of the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game.

WELCOME TO THE DARKNESS

The full moon rising in the sky is the sole source of light in the night, piercing through fingers of dark clouds. The shadows of the trees stretch across the earth and the evening breeze casts a chill over the land. When October comes, the darkness spreads. They say the link between reality and the spirit world weakens and the moon's hold unleashes the anger within us. You can't fight it any longer, it's time to join the darkness.
